Prophetic Word: You are a Pioneer

Updated: Aug 19, 2023

Prophetic word July 2021

God is making the crooked straight and the rough places smooth. Let’s take a little prophetic journey with some Jewish tradition and Biblical history—shall we? If God moves in His times and seasons, I have come to learn that there is beautiful revelation of studying the traditional Jewish holidays and feasts. Jesus was Jewish, after all, and he grew up celebrating these feasts. Jesus’s prophetically fulfilled the spring feasts, and some believe when his return will fulfill the fall feasts. Here is an interesting article as a starting place to learn more. (You can read more about my thoughts on this in my blog on Rosh Hashanah right here.) That’s just a little nugget of background info for context. Right now on the Hebrew calendar, we are in a 3-week period called “Between the Straits” or “The Three Weeks” from June 27, 2021, and will end on July 18, 2021. This time commemorates a period of mourning the destruction of the 1st and 2nd temples in Jerusalem. This time is also known as “Dire Straits.” This basically means to be in a difficult position. Sounds fun, right? So what is God doing right now, and how can we be encouraged? Let's talk about it!

Why is this prophetically significant for us?

I feel the Lord wants to encourage you: "Dire Straits," he is preparing to bring us into the new zone of our promised land. The only way out is through. But here, in the middle of the dire, narrow straits, we have to overcome new obstacles and difficulties. We have to allow the mourning process to complete. It can be hard to let go. But grieving - even the loss of what you thought was supposed to happen - will bring healing for your soul and prepare you for what's up ahead ( and it's better than you could have planned!) Leave your mourning clothes behind so you can put on garments of praise before you see the promise. When we follow God, there is sometimes only one path we can take - and it's very narrow. Very hard. There is no way around it; we must go through it. Imagine passing through the walls of a narrow cave. You can feel squeezed, afraid. You have to move slowly, cautiously. You wonder when you will ever get to the other side, to daylight, to a wide space. You have to keep going! When you go through a narrow way, you can't take everything with you. Imagine trying to fit a trailer full of all of your home furniture through a tight cave? It's pretty laughable! Even taking a suitcase could be hard. Right now, it's time to leave the baggage of the past season behind. You have to release your hands and let go so you can enter into the new that is before you. In Matthew 19, Jesus invites a rich young ruler to follow him, but he goes away with sadness. Here's Jesus' response: Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Matthew 19:23-25 If you are familiar with this verse, you may know that the eye of the needle was actually a small entrancesway at the opening of a city that was made for camels to pass through. Camels can often be stubborn animals, so it was hard to get them to go through the very narrow gate of the city. But it was still possible. I feel this for some people - you must be willing to do the uncomfortable, to give up some of your comforts to enter into all that God has for you. If he is calling you to follow him into a new season, you can trust that what lies ahead is greater than anything you will leave behind.

A Prophetic Word of Encouragement for You

I feel the Lord wanting to encourage you: You are a pioneer. pi·o·neer /ˌpīəˈnir/

  1. a person who is among the first to explore or settle a new country or area.

Do not give up! Keep going! It will be worth it to squeeze through the narrow time. Even if you can't see where you are going, you can trust that what is ahead is truly better than what you're leaving. You are pioneering. You are stepping into new territory. Every enemy that rises up against you in this time is only to strengthen your authority and show you what you are made of. You will overcome and recover all He has for you! As you move forward when you see no way, you will watch as God makes the crooked places straight and the rough places smooth. As a pioneer, you are going where others have not gone before; others have only dared to venture here. If you are feeling sad and depressed in this season, lonely from choosing to follow God and disappointed that he hasn't released your promises yet... remember that God will REMEMBER you! He is close to the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds. If you have been wondering if life is worth living, if it is worth it to follow God through the narrow way, the answer is yes! You wouldn't give up now if you could see what is "just around the river bend." There are beautiful plot twists and surprises just around the corner. The kind of shocking, stunning, and awe-inspiring gifts from God that belong to those who dare to have the faith to follow him into uncharted territories. I see a picture of people digging to find treasure maps in the sand - these are the plans and promises of God that are reserved for those who will seek him. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 X marks the spot. There are treasures for you to find that can only be found in his presence. Will you build where no one has built before? Will you go where others have not gone? Will you let God take you through the narrow way to get to the entrance of your promises?

But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. Hebrews 10:39 Not everyone can come with you on this journey. Not everyone is allowed in the birthing room of your promise. Let God clear the path and bring the people who need to come alongside you and take away those who are not meant to walk with you in this season. It's okay because you can TRUST HIS PLAN. At the same time, it's time to pray in your tribe. You aren't meant to be a nomad, always wandering alone. Your community is coming.

Pioneer, you must keep going!

All the love,

Mariel
