Have you ever heard of the term "Rainbow Weather"? I hope not, because I like to think I made it up! Rainbow weather is what I call the time right when a storm is ending when the sky is still covered with clouds, but the light is beginning to shine through.
This kind of weather creates the optimum condition for rainbows to appear.
When I look outside and see there is both dark and blue sky with a little rain, I look for the rainbows.
Are you looking for rainbows to appear above you?
That's one way that I view the prophetic. It's like looking for rainbows, God's promises, even in the midst of the storm.
"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life." Genesis 9:13
As I sit down to write this, rain is pouring down on the house. The sky is dark. Thunder is in the distance.
We can view a storm in two ways.
In fear: thinking of the potential damage taking place outside, the potential of the lightning striking.
In peace: feeling the warmth and safety of our homes, as we listen to the sound of the rain.
Jesus faced a storm of Biblical proportions in peace.
Let's take a look at the story:
"That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” Mark 4:35-41
The disciples faced the storm in fear. Jesus slept in peace. When we have Jesus in our boat, we can know we are safe. Even when the winds are raging, we can stay in peace. Not only did Jesus stay in peace, but he used his authority to calm the storm.
Let's ponder a few questions: Who sent the storm? If God sent the storm, why would Jesus rebuke it? I think it may be safe to conclude that the storm was not from God.
Do you know that it says in the Scriptures that Jesus has given US all authority?
"I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you." - Jesus, Luke 10:19
If Jesus gave us all authority, wouldn't we have the same authority He had to rebuke storms not sent by God?
Friends, it's time to remain in peace, have faith, and use our authority at a new level.
Jesus asked the disciples, "Do you still have no faith?"
Don't we know the Lord over the storm and the One who puts the rainbows in the sky?
Speaking prophetically:
We've been in a storm for the past several months. When we started the year, we didn't realize how our lives would be disrupted. Many of our plans have been canceled. Our vision for the year has had to shift dramatically. We have had to adjust to the new circumstances.
Global pandemic. Riots. Anarchy.
These are the shock waves we see on the surface, but there is a spiritual battle going on in high and low places.
We are in the storm, and it is not over yet. BUT, there are rainbows everywhere if we will look up. God is with us in the storm, and He is using it—even if it wasn't sent by Him.
I believe that God is using this year to set us up for a great move of His Spirit. As a storm can clear away debris, God is clearing the ground for a new era (as many prophetic voices have prophesied "new era" for 2020).
I belive there will continue to be an upheaval of things that need to be removed—In the government, in the church, in the media, in entertainment, in every mountain of society. Everything that can be shaken will be shaken.
"Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” 27 This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, 29 for our God is a consuming fire."
- Hebrews 12:26-29
As this happens in America and the nations of the earth, God is preparing His bride for mighty works.
"Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power." Psalm 110:3
God is the one who refines us as gold; he tests us like silver. This is so we can be prepared as vessels. It has been a season of wilderness testing for many, and this is so we will be prepared for what is coming.
Can you imagine a move of God so exciting that people begin to lay down their lives to volunteer everything, to go anywhere, just to see God move?
It's going to be massive.
I believe that with the shutdown of big gatherings, this is preceding the huge STADIUM EVENTS of REVIVAL. The SEND Kansas City is postponed until next year. Still, when it happens, this movement will send an earthquake of glory across the U.S. I have had several dreams about this event, and God is getting ready to send His "sent ones" his "apostolic chiefs" (as has been prophesied!)
The heart of the prophetic is to build up, encourage, and comfort. It is to reveal Jesus' heart to us and for others. The prophetic is to reveal what can and will happen. Yet, there is an aspect to the prophetic where we act as watchmen. We see the storm coming, and we sound the alarm, and we warn the people. We wake up, and we wake up the people. We prepare and get ready for battle.
Think of Paul Revere, if you will.
"The lion has roared—who will not fear? The Sovereign LORD has spoken—who can but prophesy?" Amos 3:5
We need those to arise who will sound the alarm to wake up the people. In these times, there is a lot of deception on the earth. Even Christian leaders are laying down their faith. We need to be sober-minded. We need to be aware. We need to read our Bibles so that we understand the times we are living in.
It's time for the THIRD GREAT AWAKENING.
I feel the call to boldness friends. In this period of history, that need for boldness in the Church will only grow.
Remember, we can choose fear or peace. We must remember Who's we are and the authority Christ has given us. We can view these times with wise discernment and WONDER, knowing God is on the move, and He is getting his people ready.
I believe there is an acceleration to the promises he has spoken to us personally and corporately as the Body of Christ. I believe people will answer the call to the nations, start kingdom-minded businesses, start non-profits that fight sex-trafficking, start new ministries, enter into politics and media, and create creative arts movements that display God's heart in powerful ways.
I believe there will be end-time marriages divinely set up in this time to display the prophetic picture of Jesus' return for His bride. I've already seen this start to happen, and I am praying for more.
Families will be restored. Sons and daughters will come home. Those who seemed beyond hope will become some of the greatest leaders in this hour. The sick healed, the depressed set free, the suicidal find purpose and life.
Yet, as these rainbows promises appear in the sky—we must not get distracted by these promises.
We must remember that it is all about a King who came to save the world. We must not forget the ultimate call to go after the ones that are lost.
All of these things are for His glory. "The days are short, and the time is now." - Jackie Brown
As the storm rages throughout 2020, friends keep your eyes fixed on Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith.
Look up!
By the time I finished writing this blog, my storm had turned to Rainbow weather. Beautiful confirmation! Check out the photos of a double rainbow outside my house:
